Q. ESUT Press – Introduction
My name is Okpor Arinze Kingsley, am in 400level, the president department of Applied Biology And Biotechnology, am from Njikoka LGA of Anambra state.
Q. ESUT Press – What inspired you to contest for departmental president?
What really inspired me to contest for the post of Departmental President was one letter word “hunger” to serve and help in the development of my department.
Q. ESUT Press – What was your toughest challenge during your campaign?
The toughest challenge I encountered during my campaign was lack of finances.
Q. ESUT Press – What did you do during your campaign time that you regret doing?
What I did during my campaign time that I regret was the fact that I tried to please everyone both the students and the student government in turn most took advantage of that.
Q. ESUT Press – What has it been like since assuming office?
It has not been easy, pressure from the troubled students and most especially that which comes with the campaign promised yet to be fulfilled.
Q. ESUT Press – Any Godfather or leadership role model, and why him/her?
No Godfather in my own case but I have a leadership role model in the person of Comr. Itodo Hilary, former President of my department. Reason is because he did wonders that perfected the department.
Q. ESUT Press – Any achievement recorded since your assumption in the office?
Rebuilding my departmental garden, general maintenance of the department and that of the laboratory.
Q. ESUT Press – Any controversy or criticism against you since assuming office?
None for now.
Q. ESUT Press – What are your plans for the department?
Rebranding and restructuring of Biology Garden, fixing of equipments and restoring of the laboratory, organizing a dope departmental week for my department, taking department to a BIO-TECHNOLOGY conference I
in Covenant University, publishing a departmental magazine and accreditation of the department, doing everything within my power to see that it comes to pass.
Q. ESUT Press – What do u think should be the role of SUG in making ESUT one of the best University?
The most priority that SUG should implore is to protect the interest of the students of ESUT at large.
Q. ESUT Press – What does the future hold for you?
As one time Departmental President, am dreaming that one day i will contest for Nigeria President.
Q. ESUT Press – Any advice for the upcoming aspirants in the university?
One advice I need to give to the upcoming political aspirants in the University is to make sure that they understand and are able to carry the tasks that befall the position they are about to mount on effectively.
Q. ESUT Press – Any advice or suggestion to the University community?
Advice to the University community is that they should put adequate measures in seeing that all departments have all the supposed necessities that define the department.
