A Kenyan police officer posted a suicide note on a WhatsApp group before committing suicide in his house in Nairobi's Umoja 2 estate, reports from his country claims.
Jonah Kimani, an Administration Police officer, shot himself dead on Sunday morning hours after posting the note on the colleagues' WhatsApp group.
In the message, the cop explained to his colleagues why he decided to take away his own life. He said a woman, reported to be his wife, and her family was the reason why he opted to kill himself.
"God forgive me because it is not my wish to die young. But whoever is the cause of my death let her not rest even a single minute.
"When I die there is a Turkana lady from Lokichar who has killed me, familia ya akina Hilda," the note posted at 4:17 am added.
One of his colleagues advised him to take a leave if he felt his life was in danger but he never replied.
"Iko nini boss, ebu chukua leave kwanza uende home kama iko dalili ya wewe kuuawa, uhai ni ya muhimu sana," the colleague wrote at 4:43 am.
At about 7:30 am, his colleagues heard a gunshot from his house but he had passed away by the time they arrived.
Beside his body was a suicide note that revealed the identity of the woman mentioned on his WhatsApp group text.
Kimani also said he left behind a son and a daughter and directed all his property be bequeathed to his 7-month-old baby girl.
Confirming the incident, Kamukunji Police Commander Adamson Bungei said investigations into the incident has commenced immediately.
