Photo: I witnessed the sale of 20 Nigerian girls and death of 25 :Libyan returnee

A Nigerian returnee from Libya has revealed that 25 compatriots, ferried from Nigeria to Libya by a trafficker identified as Charles, perished in the Sahara Desert, in the course of the journey.

The returnee, who identified himself as Alex Otoide, from Edo state, said seven members of the group also died inside a Libyan jail.

“We were 55 that travelled from here to Libya, 25 people died in the desert.More than seven people died from hunger and thirst inside the prison”, Otoide said in a report published by TheNation newspaper today.

Otoide spoke with journalists in a government camp in Benin City.

He said the human trafficking agent, Charles collected the N500, 000 from him with a promise of a better life in Europe. He, however, regretted that instead of Europe, he ended up in a Libyan jail.

He said but for providence, things could have been worse for him as he witnessed the sale of 20 Nigeria girls in the prison where they were all kept.

“They sold about 20 girls in the night. I saw it. It was God that saved me.”
“I left Nigeria with N500,000. I spent six months in Libya jail after the man that took my money ran away.
The Nation reported that many of the returnees look skinny and exhausted while some of the women among them came back to the country with babies, whose fathers are not known.

Charles, the returnees said, is running a transit camp in Libya for those who wanted to travel illegally across the Mediterranean to Europe.

He regularly made a trip back to Nigeria where he persuaded desperate young men and women that he can help them to get to Europe from Libya for a fee of about N500, 000.

But according to the deportees, after collecting the money, Charles usually abandoned them in Libya.

The human trafficking kingpin reportedly operated several bank accounts with different names in Nigeria through which he collected money from victims.

They alleged Charles kept Nigerians for days without food in his camp in Libya. Many of the migrants don’t even make it to Libya as they died of exhaustion in the Sahara desert, according to the migrants.

Osas Blessing, one of the returnees said Charles is among those nicknamed “burgers” or “connection man” on the Libya route.

He said:
“I gave Charles N450, 000 but when I got to Libya he increased it to N600, 000. He is very wicked. He does not care for human life. He is a Benin man. He will say if you die you die. He pushed us into the sea at the wrong time.
“I heard he just left Nigeria with new passengers to Libya. He has frustrated many Nigerians.”

Banky W congratulates Davido For His Mobo Win,addresses rivalry with Wizkid

Newly married singer Banky W has congratulated Davido on his Mobo win.

Banky also used the opportunity to address the rivalry between Davido and Wizkid writing;

While we are at it, Bigups to another young legend @davidoofficialon his wins.. this talented lad came into the game, never stopped working and never stopped winning. And I'm so proud of him as well.
What's better than one Superstar? Two.
Wiz and David are both extremely important to the Naija/African music movement and culture, and I personally HATE it when ppl try to make it seem like you have to choose one or the other. There's enough room in the sky for all of our stars to fly, so instead of us encouraging a childish, petty narrative that never ends well (remember Pac/Biggie?), we shld encourage all of our acts to be all they can be. I don't wanna choose. Why should I have to? I want Wiz AND David AND Olamide AND Kiss Daniel AND Tiwa AND Yemi and eeeeevery last one of us who have somehow managed to break through, to remain successful and relevant. I pray the same for all our upcoming talents who are about to make it.
After all, no one wins when the family feuds. I'm clear why I'm here.. how about you? #jayzvoice

Super Eagles shouldn't be scared of Brazil, Germany and Spain - Rufai

By Augustine Akhilomen

Ahead of Friday's 2018 World Cup draws in Russia, ex international, Peter Rufai says the Super Eagles must be ready for face the best teams in the world if they are to reach the knockout stages and the final.

All the 32 teams that qualified for the World Cup will know their foes after Fridays draws ahead of the big showpiece in 2018.

The three-time Africa Champions will be hoping to avoid some of the big names in world football but 'Dodo mayana' as he's fondly called during his goalkeeping days in the Super Eagles, said that the team shouldn't be scared of facing teams like Brazil, Germany, Spain, England and Argentina in any group.

"Football is game of 11 players and doesn't matter whether you are playing at the competition for the first time or not. The same way, the Super Eagles shouldn't be afraid of facing the football powerhouse if they are to achieve their major objective at the World Cup," Rufai told Kickintel.

"Who says teams like Brazil, Germany, Spain, Argentina, England and a few to mention are impossible to beat. Atleast we defeated Argentina 4-2 in an international friendly match and that should give us an idea of how to prepare for other big teams at the competition.

"I strongly believe that the present crop of players in the Super Eagles are good enough to qualify for the knockout stages of the world Cup irrespective of the teams in our group.

Nigerian Big Boy Buys 2017 Toyota Prado For His Pastor As Birthday Gift

A businessman who has seen the evidence of what real prayers can do in a person's life, has surprised his pastor with a brand new 2017 Toyota Prado as a birthday gift. Nice one!

Like I said before, a woman built a house for a pastor in the Bible. Pastor is not a person who should spend all his time working to make money like others. Rather, he should be spending time in the presence of God to make life better for others and in turn those people should bless him/her.

Senator Adeyeye wants allowances of all politicians reduced

The senator representing Osun Central Senatorial district, Olusola Adeyeye, on Wednesday called for a reduction in allowances of all political office holders in Nigeria, including senators.

The senator threw the red chamber into a rowdy session when he made this remark while speaking on the 2018 budget appropriation.

The budget has faced series of criticisms from the lawmakers since the start of the debate on Tuesday.

Adeyeye said the allowances of all politicians, including senators, must give way to make the budget realisable.
“If we are all going to complain, let’s face it,” he said. “I don’t want deficit budget. If we don’t want it and we want to slash the budget of N8 trillion to N4 trillion, some things must give way including the allowances of all politicians.”

This remark was followed by shouts of ‘it begins with you’ from Senators as they urged Mr. Adeyeye to take the lead in the recommendation.

‘Yes, I agree,’ he replied.

“I’m just saying that there is no gain without pain and we all know it. I agree with you, beginning with me, I agree.

“Here in this place, weeks after weeks, we create new entities that will consume more money at a time when we know the revenue is not increasing. Even this N8 trillion that we are talking about, I bet you, all of us, including myself will go and ask for more things for our constituency, where do we want the money to come from?

“If we are going to face the truth, we must face the truth together.”
