Army Finds Missing General’s Car In Jos Pond
The car, with registration number MUN-670-AA Kwara State, was pulled out of the pond at about 7 p.m.
The Army was assisted in the search and rescue operation by men of the Fire Service, local divers and experts from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
NAN reports that Alkali, former Chief of Administration at the Nigeria Army Headquarters, Abuja, had been missing since Sept. 3, with efforts to trace his whereabouts yielding no fruits.
The Army, acting on intelligence checks, later narrowed the search to the pond, and insisted on evacuating the water from it.
Speaking with newsmen after the car was pulled out, Maj. Gen. Augustine Agundu, Commander, Special Task Force in charge of security on the Plateau, said that the evacuation of the water started on Sept. 22, after intelligence reports indicated the possible location of the vehicle.
Agundu explained that Alkali was caught up in a fracas at Dura, when irate youths blocked roads and attacked travelers following an invasion of the community on Sept. 2, during which 13 persons were killed.
“We started this search on Sept. 22, when we were ordered by the Chief of Army Staff to find the missing officer.
“The officer, who retired in June 2018, after 35 years of service, was traveling to Bauchi when he ran into the mob.
“Immediately we got information about his movement, we swung into action to find him. The intelligence report convinced us that this pond was where he was dumped.
“There are about 32 abandoned mining sites in this community; for us to single this one out shows that a lot of intelligence gathering was done.
“On the first day of the operation, some women tried to stop us, claiming that the pond was their source of drinking water. They also said that the pond was their ancestral water, but we ignored them.
“This pond contains a lot of hidden secrets. There are four more cars that we have discovered inside. We are determined to unravel all the secrets in it,” he said.
Teenager In Court For ‘Defiling’ 9-Year-Old Girl
The accused, whose address was not provided, is being tried for defilement.
The prosecutor, Insp Johnson Okunade, told the Court that the accused committed the offence on September 15 in Ijero-Ekiti.
Okunade alleged that the accused defiled a 9-year-old girl (name withheld).
He said the offence contravened Section 218 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State 2012.
The prosecutor urged the Court to remand the accused in prison pending legal advice from office of Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The plea of the accused was not taken.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Adesoji Adegboye, ordered that the accused should be remanded in prison custody, pending the issuance of legal advice.
Adegboye adjourned the case until October 10 for mention.

Ronaldo Brands Claims He Raped American Woman "Fake News" In Instagram Video
Lawyers for the former Manchester United star are to take legal action against Der Spiegel over “blatantly illegal” allegations by an American woman she was raped nine years ago by the star.
Kathryn Mayorga, 34, was unveiled on Friday as the woman who has accused Ronaldo of sexually assaulting her in a Las Vegas hotel room in 2009.
Ronaldo took part in an Instagram live earlier this week where he responded to fans' questions on a variety of topics.
It is unclear what exact question was asked before Ronaldo seemingly dismissed the allegations.
Looking into the camera, the Juventus star said: "No, no, no, no, no. What they said today? Fake, fake news.
"They want to promote [themselves by using] my name. It’s normal.
"They want to be famous to say my name, but it is part of the job. I am a happy man and all good."
The Juventus star was on holiday in Sin City in 2009 with his cousin and brother-in-law when he met the part-time model.
During the alleged incident, she claimed Ronaldo fell to his knees and said he was "99 per cent a good guy" who was let down by the "one per cent".
Later, Ronaldo allegedly paid her £287,000 as an out-of-court settlement which contracted her to never speak about her claims.
The footballer, 33, denies the allegations - which first surfaced on the Football Leaks website in April 2017. According to court documents Der Spiegel claims to have seen, Ronaldo insists the sex was consensual.
His lawyers, Schertz Bergmann Rechtsanwälte, issued a statement denying Mayorga’s rape claim saying they would sue for “compensation for moral damages”.

But a local paper is being accused of getting a little too excited about the prospect of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex coming to their town - after their cheeky headline choice raised a few eyebrows.
Today a copy of The Argus, a Brighton paper, has been referred to as a 'collector's edition' after the tongue-in-cheek front page was posted online.
An image of a smiling Duke and Duchess dominates the paper.
But everyone is talking about the headline underneath which reads, in capitals: "THEY'RE COMING".
Nothing wrong with that, is there? The Sussexes are visiting Sussex and people are very excited about it.
They might have got away with it, if they hadn't added: "Look at the smiles on their faces" underneath.
To many people, this would be a perfectly acceptable front page. But the more dirty-minded Brits had a bit of a chuckle over the headline.
It was shared on the Facebook page Angry People in Local Newspapers, which often satirises local news stories, with the caption: "The front page of today's Brighton Argus is very very special."
Anthony Cavanagh commented: "LOL it took me a few mins. Maybe my mind is not as much in the gutter as it used to be."

Labour May Call Off Strike On Monday As It's Yields To FG’s Pressure
According to report, the organised labour may call off the strike action it embarked upon last Thursday, on Monday, 1st Of October 2018.
While confirming the report a top government official pleaded for anonymity disclosed that this followed talks between Federal Government officials and labour leaders over the weekend.
He further revealed that the organised labour might announce the suspension of the strike on Monday ahead of the tripartite committee meeting scheduled to hold on the 4th of October 2018.
It was also learnt that labour leaders, which insisted on guarantees that Thursday’s meeting will be used to strike a deal on the new minimum wage, were prevailed upon to soft-pedal to allow the committee to conclude action on the matter.
The decision to call off the strike might not be unconnected with the intervention of the Presidency on Thursday through the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, who tried to persuade labour leaders to end the strike.
At the meeting of the chief of staff with the leadership of the organised labour on Thursday at the State House, Abuja, the Presidency pleaded with labour to end the strike, which has affected economic activities in different parts of the country.
After the meeting, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ayuba Wabba, told journalists that the meeting was fruitful. Wabba promised that the meeting’s outcome would be tabled before relevant organs of the organised labour to determine the next line of action.
According to him, the federal government, through the chief of staff, had made a promise to the group that their agitations would be addressed. However, Wabba failed to disclose the nature of the promise made by Kyari.
“The Chief of Staff tried to give us details of government position which we will have to go and convey to our members and then we can revert back to him,” Wabba had said.
But on Friday, Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, in a statement, said the federal government was working assiduously to ensure the strike was called off.
“The Presidency wishes to assure that the federal government is taking every step necessary to get the unions to call off the strike,” Shehu said.
He said the organised labour had accepted the federal government’s demand to reconvene the tripartite committee meeting on the proposed new national minimum wage.
According to him, the meeting between the leadership of labour and representatives of various employers of labour, including the federal and state governments, has been rescheduled to reconvene on October 4.
He also explained the tripartite nature of the meeting, saying it is so called because it is made up of representatives of the public sector, that is, federal and state governments, as well as the private sector, which he said comprised the largest private employer group, the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA).
Shehu listed other members of the body to include the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), and Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMES).
Various labour unions, particularly in the public sector, had on Thursday mobilised their members to embark on a warning strike action following the breakdown in negotiations on a new national minimum wage between the unions and the federal government. The organised labour had demanded an upward review of the current N18, 000 monthly minimum wage to N65, 500 across board.
But it was learnt that at the meeting of the Tripartite Committee on the new National Minimum Wage, chaired by former Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ama Pepple, the organised private sector had proposed N25, 000 as its next minimum wage while other unions in the public sector insisted that the least they could accept from the federal government would be N43, 000.
While the private sector and the labour unions have come up with proposals on the next minimum wage, the federal government has till date failed to come up with its own proposal, thus compelling labour to proceed on strike last Thursday.
Although Vice President Yemi Osinbajo recently met with the Economic Management Team (EMT) in the presidential villa to brainstorm on the new wage, details of the meeting have not been made public.
When contacted on the latest position of Labour, General Secretary of NLC, Peter Esom, said the organised labour was yet to suspend the strike action, adding that until they consult with the affiliate unions no such decision can be taken.

Osinbajo Neutral In APC Lagos Governorship Race
He merely came to plead with the party leaders to allow a level playing field for the two contestants, including the incumbent Akinwunmi Ambode.
According to a statement by Osinbajo’s office, Osinbajo yesterday attended a meeting of the Lagos State General Advisory Council, GAC, where he had been invited by the elders on the council.
Before the meeting, the Vice President who had been in Lagos to participate in the Presidential primaries in the State had met with Governors Akin Ambode and the APC National Leader Ashiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
At the GAC meeting, Prof Osinbajo, who is believed to be supportive of a second term bid for Ambode, conveyed the view of the Buhari presidency that there should be a level playing field in the overall conduct of the primaries. Informed sources at the meeting said the purpose of VP’s attendance at the GAC was to report on a previous meeting held between him and Gov Aregbesola on how to resolve some of the outstanding issues around Governor Ambode‘s second term bid and its fallouts.

I May Write Book About My Crashed Marriage -Damilola Adegbite
For those who would love to know all that went down in actress, Damilola Adegbite’s crashed marriage to Ghanaian star, Chris Attoh, they may have a blockbuster book to read very soon.
When asked by Sunday Scoop if she was willing to give marriage another try, the Tinsel actress said, “Of course, why not? I never say never.
This time, I will be looking out for a man; he has to be a man (in the real sense of the word). I don’t try to foresee things as I prefer to live in the moment. I learnt a lot from my past experience (in marriage) and I may have to write a book about it.
There are quite a lot of things and I wouldn’t want to single out one. If I single it out, it may seem like the most important one when it’s not so; they are all very important.”
Damilola also believed marriage between two entertainers could work successfully. “I don’t see why marriages between entertainers cannot work,” she said.
Speaking on her experience working on the movie, Merry Men, with AY, she said, “It was an amazing one for me. I had a good time doing it. This was the first time I worked with AY and I really enjoyed it. However, my dream role is to be a Bond girl. I like the physical part of running and jumping; that’d be a bit more exciting than the drama we are used to in this side. I wouldn’t say I’m a tomboy but I like to work out and get active. Before agreeing to be in any movie, I check my character in it and the story in general; I have to connect to it before I can be part of it. I also consider the other actors that would be on the project.”
The actress also maintained that acting was the only job she had ever thought of doing. “Right from when I was a little girl, I’ve always wanted to be in the spotlight. And I’m also lucky because my parents supported me from the outset. I think I had my breakthrough in the TV series, Tinsel,” she stated.
Speaking on the cause of the scar just around her eyes, Adegbite said, “It was a car accident when I was younger. It was a ghastly one and at the point of impact, everything just went blank for me and my face was ruined.”
On if she would consider cosmetic surgery, Damilola said, “Why not? Every woman is entitled to being confident (in her body). Thankfully, I don’t need to. Maybe 10 years down the line, when my cheek or nose probably begins to sag, I would think about doing something.”

Some of the actors in the movie include Yinka Quadri, Abimbola Ogunnowo and lots of A-list actors; it’s a star-studded movie. I have also done a lot of other jobs with other colleagues. Asides movies, I’m also a fashion entrepreneur and I’ve done a lot in that regard. My daughter recently launched a make-up line and we’ve been doing a lot of work on it.

Football Star Cristiano Ronaldo Accused Of Anally Raping Las Vegas Woman In 2009
According to report, Kathryn Mayorga who came forward on Friday as the victim of the alleged sexual assault with an attempt to void her non-disclosure agreement settlement, while speaking with German publication Der Spiegel, claimed that Ronaldo raped her anally at the Palms Place Hotel in Las Vegas.
It was has been gathered that Ronaldo who has denied all of what his lawyers called “blatantly illegal” accusations is also planning to sue Der Spiegel for “an inadmissible reporting of suspicions in the area of privacy.”
According to report, Der Spiegel had previously reported on the existence of the settlement and the alleged incident last year, reporting Mayorga under the pseudonym Susan K.
At the time of the alleged rape in 2009, Mayorga was reportedly 25 years old and met Ronaldo in the VIP section of a Las Vegas nightclub. At the time, Ronaldo was well in his prime and nearing a massive £80 million transfer to Real Madrid. Mayorga claimed the following happened in a letter written during her legal battle and confirmed them with Der Spiegel on Friday:
In the letter that she wrote to Ronaldo, K. describes what happened later that night of partying. She writes that she gave him her number. That he called her later and invited her to a party. Afterward, they went to his penthouse. When K. arrived together with a girlfriend, she writes that Ronaldo and his friends climbed into the Jacuzzi. And that he offered her swimwear. She claims that he followed her as she went to change, and that the two kissed. But K. writes that this wasn’t enough for Ronaldo. She writes that she wanted to go back to the others. She continues that he took her and put her on the bed. That she used both hands as she attempted to protect herself. “I screamed NO NO NO NO NO NOOOO over and over I begged you to stop. I was never so scared in my life,” K. writes in the letter.
After it was over, Ronaldo allegedly turned to her again and supposedly said 99 percent of the time he was a good guy, but that he doesn’t know what happened to that 1 percent. That’s what K. writes in her letter.
Mayorga said she has since faced emotional trauma from the incident, a common occurrence with sexual assaults.
“I’ve had like these serious breakdowns,” she told the magazine. “And again, blaming of the rape. And I blame him, and I blame myself for signing that thing.”
Not Ronaldo’s first rape allegation
Ronaldo had previously been arrested and questioned over allegations in 2005 that he had raped a woman in a London hotel, but that case was eventually abandoned by Scotland Yard due to insufficient evidence. Ronaldo was 20 years old at the time.
Why Kathryn Mayorga is now coming forward
Mayorga seems to be facing a massive risk over coming out against Ronaldo, as their non-disclosure agreement reportedly contains clauses obliging her to pay back the $375,000 from the settlement as well as any actual damages caused to Ronaldo according to Der Spiegel.
Despite all that, Mayorga said she had multiple reasons to come out against Ronaldo.

Mayorga’s motivation for coming forward with her story now are three-fold. For one, she has been convinced by her lawyer that she can challenge the settlement in court, and she seeks to bring a new suit that would finally give her some semblance of the justice she’s long sought. Secondly, she has felt empowered by the Me Too movement and other women’s bravery in naming and standing up to their assailants in sexual assaults. Thirdly, she wants her case to receive public attention to discover if Ronaldo has ever done this to anyone else. “That question never let me go,” Mayorga told Der Spiegel.
Mayorga’s new laywer, Leslie Stovall, has reportedly filed suit in Nevada to void the agreement, claiming that it shouldn’t be legally binding due to the terms allegedly impeding a possible criminal investigation, the settlement failing to take into account Mayorga’s learning disabilities and the mental trauma Mayorga faced after the incident that could have affected her decision-making. He also claims that he has documents implying that Ronaldo violated the agreement by never actually reading Mayorga’s letter as negotiated.

Lagos State Governor Ambode Storms Out Of GAC Meeting
Recall that ahead of the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship primary in Lagos State, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the Governor’s Advisory Council, GAC, yesterday, endorsed Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the party’s ticket for the 2019 elections.
And in reaction to the development, the Lagos state Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, who is also in the race for the party’s ticket, disclosed that 237 Councillors, 3,900 Community Associations were supporting him.
It was also later learnt that the state chapter of the APC had postponed the governorship primary, scheduled for today, to tomorrow. And while announcing the outcome of the GAC meeting, held at Tinubu’s Ikoyi, Lagos residence, to party loyalists that had stormed the Lagos APC Secretariat, Senator Anthony Adefuye, a member of the group, said that the meeting, which commenced at 10am, ended after several hours of deliberations. In his words, he said;
“There was a GAC meeting held this morning, which was attended by Vice President Osinbajo; Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; Speaker, House of Assembly, Mudasiru Obasa, among others.
“This meeting was chaired by our National Leader, Tinubu. This is a meeting that we started at 10am. And we couldn’t finish early. After the meeting, I have been mandated by the GAC to announce this to you.
The governorship primary, earlier scheduled for tomorrow, September 30, has been shifted to Monday, October 1.
“Also, the GAC was informed by Dr Obafemi Hamzat of his decision to graciously step down and he endorsed Jide Sanwo-Olu.
“GAC has endorsed Babajide Sanwo-Olu as its preferred candidate ahead of the primary,”
Adefuye further disclosed that Tinubu had earlier planned to address the party members at the state APC secretariat but could not leave his residence “because various organs of the party had decided to meet him on other issues in the state.”
According to a source, the leadership of the party may have agreed to give the deputy governorship ticket to Hamzat, who stepped down for Sanwo-Olu, leaving the incumbent Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and Sanwo-Olu to slug it out for the party’s ticket.
It was also learnt that Ambode, who attended the meeting of the GAC at Tinubu’s residence, stormed out in the course of the deliberations apparently due to the unfavorable stance to his candidacy.

Atiku Abubakar will run a campaign across all of Nigeria that begins addressing these issues . His campaign will be like his government talking and working with the states and people of Nigeria to restructure and create jobs , wealth for farmers , and business opportunities for youths and lifting Nigerians out of poverty .
