UNIPORT Publishes Commencement of 2016/2017 Post UTME Form Announced Sales on Newspaper.

The above image was posted online and it shows an advert placed on a national daily which shows University of Port Harcourt announcing the sales of their Post UTME Form for 2016/17 academic session.

This advert was placed just 3 days after the Federal Government, (FG) announced the scrapping of all forms of post Jamb Exams citing their trust and confidence in the ability of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, (JAMB) to conduct the exams to their contentment and hence no need to further test students.

The news was met with mixed reactions as some students welcomed the idea claiming it would increase transparency and reduce corruption in the higher institutions while the others lamented that pegging the cut-off at 180 for all institutions effectively ends any hope for a candidate with less than 180 as score despite the fact that JAMB 2016 was near abysmal due to technical difficulties experienced by a lot of candidates that made jamb add 40 marks for students.

Which makes implementing this policy in 2016 a bit hasty and inconsiderate by the FG, as long as JAMB can conduct their exams hitch-free and on the highest level then every candidate can justifiably put their trust in jamb’s ability to deliver, but that should all be a matter of next year as many have suggested, but again its all left in the hands of the stakeholders – ASUU, ASUP and other top educational bodies to have their say.
